Improve the Tone and Appearance of Your Guitar: How to Clean Your Guitar

There are several rockabilly artists from the 1950s when rockabilly originally hit the scene that have since become household names. These are artists that pretty much everyone has heard of. Among these names are Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Conway Twitty (who was recording back then as Harold Jenkins). But there are other rockabilly cats who had a huge impact on the world of rock and roll but whose names most people wouldn't recognize, even though they're probably familiar with some of their music from listening to "oldies." Then of course, there are the completely obscure rockabilly artists whose songs never survived to make it onto oldies radio shows and whose names are all but lost to rock and roll history. Yet the music that these musicians made proves the value of their contributions to rock and roll.

Why Many Teenagers Struggle to Read Music and What You Can Do About It

Very few bands in the last 20 years have managed to do what the Avett Brothers have done as far as touring, global cult-like following and nearly ubiquitous critical acclaim, and never have a top 40 hit. The Avett Brother's are a folk-rock-punk-bluegrass-roots-avant garde-hard to pin down band hailing from the hills of Concord, North Carolina.

Teen Mom stars Amber Portwood and Gary Shirley! (Hide ya kids! Hide ya wife!)

Supposedly, the MTV reality pair are heading out our way, to El Lay, to shoot some stuff for the show and have decided that while they're already here, they might as well look for a place to settle down.

Anderson, IN not living up to its wild-party namesake, kids???

According to sources, the pair are "working" to get their relationship back on track and think this movie might bring them closer together and back to be being a family. The source adds:

"They want to start a new life together and moving to LA would be the best way to start over. And of course it would also really help with their future projects like book deals, a clothing line and more television."

Ah! And another Hollywood dream is born in the minds of Z-list reality stars.

Just one quick question, though, before you pack up tchotchkes and peace out - Are ya'll even allow to leave Indiana?

Seriously! Isn't Amber still in a lot of legal drama right now for, oh geez what did she do again…oh yeah, punching you in the face, Gary??? How quickly we all forget when there is money to be made!

P.S. - Where is you baby? Is someone raising her???

Albeit younger than the legendary Stradivarius (by a few centuries), invoking the name Gibson around guitar players summons up the same kind of reverence and deep respect for a brand that has always made top of the line instruments, and contributed much to the development of the instrument in general. Luthiers and players the world over owe much to the Gibson company.

Beginner Drum Sets, What to Look Out for?

After years of usage and wear, your piano's finish will gradually succumb to the elements and show signs of wear. Older pianos often have a thick varnish coating that will crack and turn dark hiding the beauty of the veneers, pianos that have been exposed to high exposures of sunlight will fad, the finish turning from translucence to foggy gray. Restoring a piano finish will add additional value to your piano if done properly and make it an acceptable piece of furniture in your decor.

The Fun Facts About Guitars

Few arguments seem less solvable than the one about what the very first rockabilly song was. Some say Elvis was the first when he recorded "That's All Right" in 1954. But others point to various other artists--for example the Maddox Brothers and Rose--who were creating music that fits very comfortably into the rockabilly genre as far back as the late 1940s. But one thing that there is no real argument about is that once Elvis really kicked it into gear, rockabilly raged strong for a few years. Exactly what year rockabilly peaked, well, that gets us back onto a little less concrete ground.

What Year Did Rockabilly Music Peak?

There's something special about rockabilly music. Something you can't really describe fully. But I'll try! Some music is for listening to, but not rockabilly. Oh, of course, you can listen to rockabilly. But I think it might be physically impossible to simply just listen to it. There's something infectious in the music. No matter how you try to simply listen, it only takes a few beats of the song before listening morphs into active participation.

The History Of The Music Video

There's a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that I love, which is, "That which we persist in doing becomes easy to do; not that the nature of the thing has changed, but that our power to do has increased." Emerson really hit the nail on the head with that one. As I think about virtually everything that I've accomplished in my life that I'm really proud of, it's always something that I've accomplished by being persistent and refusing to quite. Whether it's learning to play guitar, licensing my music, building my businesses or having great relationships, it's all required persistence and determination despite the inevitable obstacles that I've faced along the way.

Last night David and I made our way out to the ArcLight Theater in Hollywood, CA to see this week’s #1 movie Battle: Los Angeles. As you may recall, back in January we got to see the trailer for the film and based on what I saw, I knew I wanted to see the film when it opened in theaters. The movie came out on Friday but David and I were still in Berlin, Germany … so last night was our first chance to see it and … overall, we both liked it.

To be clear, Battle: Los Angeles is not a cinematic masterpiece. It’s not even the best alien invasion film I’ve ever seen … but it is a fun film with a lot of great action scenes, a pretty decent storyline and impressive CGI. My one complaint about the film is the length … it goes on for about a half hour too long. But the action gets started pretty quickly and doesn’t let up much. The weakest parts are when the film tries to tug at your heartstrings and, let’s be honest, no one is going to see a movie like this for the emotional impact. We want to see aliens, aliens blowing up stuff and humans blowing up aliens. Thankfully, we do get to see a lot of that in this film. It’s not a movie that I would call a “must see”, but we enjoyed it and if the trailer makes you think it’s something you’d like to see, go see it. It’s fun.
